Quick Post – 40 Bags in 40 Days

February 16, 2010

40 Bags in 40 Days: A Lenten Challenge – anyone else want to join me??

We have about 10 bags of “stuff” sitting in the garage from my slowly combing through our things and trying to minimize. LOVE this idea of just one bag a day – we need to do it so badly, so my plan is to pick one thing per day to focus on, get it in a bag and get it in the back of my car. Every few days(or maybe once a week on Saturdays) I’m going to make a trip to Goodwill or Salvation Army.  Up first is going to be our books. :::GASP::: I loooooove books. But there are so many just sitting and collecting dust that I will never pick up again, so I want to take them somewhere for someone to get them who will actually use and enjoy them! Plus, my pretty rainbow bookshelves are getting majorly cluttered as a junk spot to shove things, so it’s a great incentive to clear away the things that have accumulated on them. So, I’m going to take some more before and after pictures of the clutter and clearing just to be accountable to myself to actually commit to this and do it – TODAY! Look for an edit later tonight with the updated status of the bookshelves.

I’m joining you! We decided to turn our guest room into a play/craft/work space this past Sat. It motivated me to declutter and try to simplify. Think I can count a tv as one bag?

Yes, definitely think a tv counts as a bag! A play/craft/work space sounds amazing – you’ll definitely have to post some pictures!
