Easter and Joie de Vivre

April 4, 2010

Easter. New life and beginnings. Spring, warm weather, so much green. We woke up this morning and it was literally as though everything turned green and bloomed overnight. It wasn’t great for my allergies but it was some serious gorgeousness.

It’s funny, this parenting gig. It had me obsessing last night about being a bad mom for not having more “treats” from the Easter Bunny. I spent a way-too-late night at W-mart trying to find something and leaving with nothing much for Easter and a whole lot of stuff I probably would never have bought if I hadn’t been there to get stuff for Easter in the first place. But they’ve had so many treats already this week. Two egg hunts, candy, cookie and sugar galore. Celebration with our Moms’ group, celebration at preschool. Dyeing eggs again, which resulted in cabinets the now have permanent pink drip marks and a very large pink stain on our awesome linoleum after I heard, “Mama I didn’t touch them…but I did spill a little water…” while changing a diaper. They’ve had so many treats and so much fun and it has nothing to do with how much “stuff” we buy for them to put in a basket they’ll cast aside in 2.2 seconds.

The favorite part around here? A $2 huge bouncy ball and playing outside. The weather was perfection and the time spent outside with Gran and Pops and Uncle Mike was by far the biggest hit of the day that sparked the most smiles, the most squeals of joy and the most hugs.

We attempted Easter pictures behind our neighbors barnish storage shed, but it just resulted in one kid trying endlessly to hold her brother’s hand and the other kid trying endlessly to knock the whole barn over with his incessant banging.

Oh, and the peonies? They’ve literally grown inches in just three days…

Beautiful pictures! I love the ones of the pink flowers as well as the ones of the kids by the red barn/shed.
