A Genius Craigslist Re-Using Idea

April 21, 2010

I came across this post on Craigslist and loved it so much I had to share! I can’t say that I’d pay $375 for it, but I thought the idea was genius for anyone who has an old playhouse that’s not being used or if you can get your hands on one and want to get chickens.

The Craigslist Ad:

Cute Chicken House – $375

Large adorable play house that we converted to a chicken house, has nesting shelves/boxes, 2 roosting poles within, chicken wire over windows, small exit door for chickens to go out into a chicken yard. A large door for easy entrance. We took out the floor to allow for drainage into ground, so that the wooden floor would not get damaged by moisture. We used lots of wood chips to absorb waste (which we cleaned out regularly and put on our garden, a great fertilizer!). Yellow and blue, could use a fresh coat of paint. Size: 8″ X 6″ X 7″ high at peak. *Comes with 2 rolls of chicken wire, plus the chicken yard fencing/net.. The chickens that lived in it were 100% healthy, we did this as a homeschool project for 2 years and loved it. It is ‘lived in’, typical chicken house inside, but even a NEW coop would look this way in a week or two, with chickens flying up to roost, etc… Can also be used as a playhouse, after being washed inside, no glass windows. Save time and $$$, buy this cute little house instead, all ready to go…
