Sometimes You Just Need A Rainy Day

We had things to do, places to go, people to see today. But we scrapped it all and just stayed home. We’re all still in pajamas, but we’ve still baked cookies, made a big batch of lentil soup for lunch(and some to share with friends and some to freeze for another day) and 75% finished Shepherd’s Pie for our dinner and to take to two friends who just had babies. We dug through the books to find some “new” books to read and read a whole stack. We watched a little too much tv. We laughed hysterically for absolutely no reason at all in the way that only a 1 year old can inspire. We tried to take a nap, but giggled and snuggled so much that we couldn’t calm down, so we decided it would be better to go outside and play in the rain. We looked for bugs crawling on raindrops and checked the garden and smelled flowers and hunted for puddles to jump in.

Now, if you’ll excuse me – my two little ragamuffins are napping and I have a cup of tea, a cookie, two loads of laundry to fold and a book calling my name!

Your photos made me smile: such bright and happy colors on a gray, rainy day!! I just love those stay-in-jammies kind of days (wish we had rain more often around here).

Sounds like it was one of those rare, lovely days; the kind of day you fold up and tuck away in your pocket like a good fortune worth keeping.
    Beautiful photos!

Been enjoying your blog but haven’t been commenting enough. I blame it on reading through googlereader and not clicking through. Sounds like you are enjoying the weather, no matter what. I received that book for Christmas and haven’t put a dent in it! I need to get on that.

Leave some love! (It always makes my day:)
