Strawberries and Sunshine
We bought our first official strawberries of the season this morning. I paid $4 for them and they were worth absolutely every last penny. Every time I bite into a local, in-season, fresh strawberry I wonder what on earth I’m thinking eating them any other time of year. We are 150% putting strawberry plants in next year!
Friday or Monday we’re going strawberry picking in the early morning and having our first official day of canning, etc. of the season. I’ve been poring over the Ball Blue Book of Preserving that my mom brought me a few weeks ago and planning all of the things I want to make. Strawberry Freezer Jam, Strawberry-Lemon Marmalade, Frozen whole and pureed, homemade fruit roll ups…any other suggestions to throw in the mix? To say that I’m excited might just be the understatement of the year! I do believe it’s officially summer around here:)
p.s. Anyone have any good suggestions for getting strawberry stains out of a favorite pair of baby shorts? We’ve used our normal stain removers and they’re currently out sunning, but I’m not feeling very confident that they’ll be magically gone…
