Growth

July 27, 2010

So much growth around here (and other bits of rambling.)

In the past 24 hours:

-I have had a pretend baby cat, baby frog, baby turtle, baby monkey, baby fish, baby kangaroo and baby giraffe. It’s been a hilarious way to watch Nick copy his sister and learn a whole lot of animal sounds in a short span of time!

-Nick emptied a 12-pack of soda one.can.at.a.time bringing each one out, shaking it a bit for me(thanks, buddy!), bring it to the fridge, placing it on the door, closing the door, going back to the pantry, getting another can, bringing it to the fridge I have waiting open…rinse and repeat. It occupied a good bit of time.

-In one day yesterday he ate: 3 bananas, yogurt, 1/4 of a watermelon, 1/2 a peanut butter sandwich, 2 clementines, an egg, goldfish, kashi crackers with hummus, peppers,  olives, a whole wheat tortilla with sour cream & salsa and cheese and chicken and beans and peppers and tomatoes. And some applesauce. Growth spurt anyone?!?

-My new favorite activity: Letting Mia put me to bed. It might have been my favorite thing I’ve done in a really, really long time. Especially to listen to her tell me the things that I tell her and read me her favorite books and make sure I brushed my teeth and even run her fingers through my hair. I actually did fall asleep and it was the best way to fall asleep EVER.

-I thought our garden was having issues. I thought there wasn’t quite enough sun and that the tomatoes weren’t ripening and that there were too many bunnies and squirrels and who-knows-what-else munching all of our low tomatoes at night. Um, no. We’re having a tomato explosion out there. I didn’t even know we had cucumbers growing yet, let alone that there were three big fat ones all hiding and ready to eat under all of the leaves! Zinnias galore. I’m foreseeing a whole lot of tomato processing in the coming weeks…

They’re at my parents’ from when we were little and I’m kind of sure that my mom probably even got them at a yard sale then! They’re all over on ebay and you definitely might be able to find some at yard sales now, too. They LOVE them.

Leave some love! (It always makes my day:)
