Mama Solidarity

July 13, 2011

The thing I love about my Google Reader is how smart it is.  Seriously.  I open it and on the “home” screen, it populates the latest posts from my most frequently read blogs within my reader. So when the very first at the top of the list was this post at Flower Patch Farmgirl, I knew it was fate today.

You see, I’m wearing old glasses today.  Because someone got a hold of my “good” new glasses in that in-between time this morning when I should have known better than to drift half back into sleep while he scampered around our  room. And now I can’t find my glasses.  At all. We’ve searched high and low all day.  He just gives me blank stares and says, “No, NO  Mama gasses!” then doesn’t act as any help at all in leading us to his secret hiding places for glasses and all things belonging to his sister.

In the time it just took me to sit down and write this post up to this point, he  completely unscrewed his doorknob.  Big gaping hole and handles hanging out that I just had to go fix because he was so mad that I had the audacity to be such a terrible mom to make him stay in his room during nap time.

It’s nice to know we’re not alone sometimes, isn’t it? I read that post and just shook my head. I half wanted to laugh, but also cry. Because I just know that feeling. My little guy permanent markered alllll over downstairs while a babysitter was here a bit ago – she was so horrified and felt so awful that I felt more awful for her than I felt upset about the marker!

I came downstairs two days ago from just running upstairs to change my clothes and found him sitting in the coat closet eating MAYO straight from the jar.  I even like mayo, but it was seriously hard to keep myself from throwing up cleaning that mess!

Yesterday, he ran upstairs to get clean undies after pooping on the rug while running around naked(one of the three area rugs we have in an entire house of hardwood floors, of course) and came downstairs still naked and without undies and covered in shampoo. “Look, Mama! Wash hands!”

So, while he sings songs and yells for me from his room with the re-attached door knobs, I’m going to make some peach sorbet. It’s going to accompany the complete insanity of deliciousness that was the Black Tea Blackberry Sorbet that I made yesterday.  I’m going to turn up the Adelle station on Pandora and maybe take a little nap myself and I’ll deal with the havoc that is currently being wreaked in his room after we’ve all had a little bit of quiet time.

In the meantime, if you also have a little one like this, here’s one more vote that you are not alone!

Let’s never leave Nick and Nollie alone for even one minute. I shudder to think what might happen.😐

OMG, I LOVE IT! Oh, the mayo… adorable. So glad you stopped to get a pic🙂 He is just so big now! I haven’t had time to read any blogs lately (except the big metal chicken, of course), and I’ve missed seeing your little ones and your pics and your fabulous outlook and finds.
